Rachelle Gardner is an agent with WordServe Literary Group, representing both fiction and nonfiction. She has been in the publishing business for fifteen years, with experience in marketing, sales, international rights, acquisitions and editorial.
Rachelle is looking to represent authors with long term publishing potential. She's looking at all genres of adult fiction (except fantasy, sci-fi, and erotica) and prefers stories with strong characters and page-turning plots. Currently her favorite genres are contemporary women's fiction, historical romance, and romantic suspense. She's looking to add one or two YA authors to her list, but is being extremely selective.
In non-fiction, she's looking for health, practical self-help, memoir, books for Christians, and a variety of other topics. She wants authors with significant marketing platforms who understand the importance of self-promotion via the Internet.
Rachelle welcomes pitches for finished novels only, so please don't pitch a novel that isn't complete and polished. If your book is non-fiction it doesn't need to be completely written, but if she requests a partial, you'll need a book proposal and three sample chapters. Rachelle will also take appointments with writers seeking information or feedback.
Rachelle has a popular blog on which she shares information with writers five days a week: http://cba-ramblings.blogspot.com. You can also find her on Twitter (@RachelleGardner). Prior to entering publishing, Rachelle spent five years in television at the Fox Network. She lives in Colorado with her firefighter husband, two young daughters and a fun-loving yellow lab.
