D. Anne Love is the author of 12 novels for middle grade and young adult readers, including The Puppeteer's Apprentice, Semiprecious, The Secret Prince, Picture Perfect, and Defying the Diva, published at Simon and Schuster/McElderry, and a nonfiction illustrated biography, Of Numbers and Stars: The Story of Hypatia, published at Holiday House, New York. A series of three historical novels for adults currently under contract will be published, beginning in 2011.
Among her numerous awards and honors are Friends of American Writers Juvenile Fiction Prize, Amelia Bloomer List Book, International Reading Association Notable Books in Language Arts, Teddy Children's Book Award, New York Public Library Best Books for the Teen Age, Harding University Best Book of the Year, Kansas Top Ten Pick and numerous nominations for state awards in Washington, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, South Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Iowa and Delaware. Three Against the Tide (Holiday House), an historical novel set in South Carolina, was a nominee for the Sharra Award and the Lamplighter Award.
Her affiliations include Hollins University graduate faculty in English/Children's Literature, 2010; Tennessee Young Writers Workshop, Nashville, 2007 and 2008; Associate Writer in Residence, Atlantic Center for the Arts, New Smyrna Beach, Fla. A native of Tennessee, Dr. Love makes her home in the Texas hill country with her husband and their two golden retrievers.
